Shown below are a few comments from some of David's ex-team-mates from Dundee United, including some memories they have of his time there and wishing him well for his 60th birthday (12/06/16).

Whenever I think of David Narey I think of a Rolls Royce. He was an elegant centre back who was very comfortable on the ball.
As well as being a top player he was the model professional and a great person to have in the dressing room. It was a pleasure to play and train with him.

Happy 60th Davie, the man who introduced me to a Black and Tan when I was only 16,a wonderful footballer and truly nice guy who was so laid back it was unreal.
My first thought as I walked in as a 16 year old to Dundee United was that Davie Narey could play for any team in any era in any position, giving all the years service to Dundee United and going on to win the League Cup with Raith Rovers at the age he was and given the performance he did in the final was a pleasure to see.
I last seen him at the Frank Kopel diner last year and Davie still looked as if he could still play, he is always in my top 11 footballers I had the pleasure to play with, hope you have a great birthday and a few Black and Tans.

When I arrived at Tannadice he was the player I looked up against, playing for Scotland and a goal scorer against Brazil!
But when I start playing and training alongside him I always felt a lot of confidence, he knew exactly what was gonna happen during the game. I remember the quarter final against Motherwell during our cup run in 1994, we beat them 1-0 and he played in midfield like a emperor leading his troops to victory.
Not only on, but also off the pitch he was en is an example for everybody.
Michael O'Neill
He was a Scotland legend who is well remembered for that amazing goal against Brazil.
He was a top-class defender who would probably be suited to the modern game because he wasn't a physical defender. He read the game well and could intercept pasases with ease.

I was at Tannadice in the early part of David's career but unfortunately for me I never had the chance of playing alongside him (wasn't good enough).
We were all fortunate enough to enjoy Davie's career and witness what in Scottish Football will be remembered as the finest TOE POKED GOAL ever seen in the WORLD CUP.
Can't believe he's coming up to 60 yrs last time I saw him he looked as if he could still be playing. All the best, ARCHIE KNOX
PS Remember taking him training as a schoolboy along with Graeme Payne, John Holt and other S form signings before they became apprentices.
