Aged 15 Dundee Utd captured David on Schoolboy forms in 1972, before signing professionally on 12/06/73.

David was the 1st ever player to gain International recognition for Scotland whilst playing for the club. United proudly flew the St Andrew�s cross over Tannadice the day of his International debut.
