Aged 15 Dundee Utd captured David on Schoolboy forms in 1972, before signing professionally on 12/06/73.

The most goals he scored in a season was 9, during the title winning 1982-83 season.

David was the 1st ever player to gain International recognition for Scotland whilst playing for the club. United proudly flew the St Andrew´┐Żs cross over Tannadice the day of his International debut.


For 21 of David's 22 seasons at Utd Jim McLean was the man in charge, before Ivan Golac took over at the start of his final season (1993-94).


David has played with over 100 players at Dundee Utd during his career, still keeping in close contact with a lot of them.
