Spanning 21 seasons and coinciding with United's most successful era (under the management of Jim McLean), David racked up the clubs most appearances record winning several honours along the way.

Scotland

David made 35 appearances for Scotland and many have said had it not been for the likes of Willie Miller and Alex McLeish, he would've made many more.

Raith Rovers

David was part of the Raith Rovers team that won promotion to the Premier Division as First Division champions and also defeated Celtic in the 1994 Scottish League Cup Final (winning the Man-of-the-Match award for his performance in the game).
